Frequently asked questions

What do I need to connect Membrance?

You need a Membrance account and a ChatGPT or Claude account that supports custom connections. During beta, you add Membrance manually.

  • ChatGPT: Use ChatGPT on the web with Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise or Education, and enable developer mode. Workspace policies may restrict access. ChatGPT setup guide
  • Claude: Custom connectors are available on Free, Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise. Free allows one custom connector; Team and Enterprise require an owner to add it first. Claude setup guide

After signing in to Membrance, open Connect for your connection URL and instructions. Add it in your assistant, choose OAuth, then sign in to Membrance to authorize the connection.

What does Membrance cost?

Membrance is free during beta. Any subscription fees for your assistant are separate. The future price of Membrance has not been set.

Who is Membrance for?

For people who already use an AI assistant and want to track nutrition, training, or health in detail without filling in a tracker by hand. Start with a meal, a workout, symptoms, or a lab report; you do not need a plan or a goal first.

What can I do with Membrance?

Use your existing assistant to record, plan and review your training, nutrition and health:

  • Training: Plan sessions with exercises, sets, intervals and videos. Track strength, running and complex sports such as climbing: routes, grades, attempts, sends and hangboard grip, edge depth and load. Create custom exercises and variations.
  • Nutrition: Track ingredients, macros, vitamins and minerals from messages, photos or labels, including estimated ranges. Plan meals around allergies and preferences, save recipes, manage leftovers and build shopping lists.
  • Health records: Record symptoms, stress, energy, body measurements, lab results, conditions, appointments and menstrual periods. Track medication and supplement schedules, including taken or missed doses.
  • Goals: Set milestones, nutrition and activity targets, and weekly habits such as meditation or breathing practice. Review the records that count towards each goal.
  • Trends & scenarios: Compare weeks of records, inspect trends and explore scenarios with stated assumptions. Use your history to adapt plans. Correct entries while retaining their sources and earlier versions.
  • Samsung Health: If you use Samsung Health, import sleep, steps, workouts, weight and body fat on Android. Add missing details through your assistant and use imported records alongside everything else you track.
  • Assistant and app: Explore charts and records on the web and Android, and open cards in supported assistants. Tailor your views, set reminders and use downloaded plans offline on Android. Keep your history when switching assistants.

How is this different from my assistant’s memory?

Assistant memory helps personalize conversations using details from earlier chats. It is not a dedicated health log with consistent fields for every meal, set, or lab result. Membrance keeps dated entries with quantities, units, sources, and corrections. Your assistant can retrieve the relevant history for each conversation, including detail beyond a memory summary. You also get nutrient totals, trend charts, and records to browse in the Membrance app, plus visual cards inside supported assistants. That record stays with you when you change assistants.

How do I add information?

Describe what you ate or how you trained, send a photo, or share a report with your connected assistant. It extracts the details, asks when something important is unclear, and saves entries in Membrance. Photo-based portions and nutrient values may be estimates. Membrance stores extracted text and results, not the original image or file.

How does nutrient uncertainty work?

When portions or ingredients are uncertain, your assistant can record a nutrient estimate and a plausible range. Membrance carries the uncertainty into totals and trends, so you can consider it when comparing intake with a target. The ranges are estimates too, not guaranteed limits. Missing nutrient data remains missing; it does not count as zero.

Do I have to track everything?

No. You can use Membrance just for strength training, meal tracking, a recurring symptom, or another question you want to follow. Add more when it helps. Missing entries remain missing; they do not count as zero.

Can I see and correct what was saved?

Yes. Cards inside supported assistants summarize what was saved. The web and mobile apps let you browse entries, charts, plans, and sources in more detail. Ask your assistant to correct a mistake; the history shows what changed.

Can I change assistants later?

Yes. Your records stay in Membrance. Connect another supported assistant to use them in new conversations.

Does Membrance replace medical advice?

No. Membrance helps you organize health information and plans. It does not replace medical advice or provide emergency care.
